Door-step library services are currently available in Mumbai and Pune only..

The Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad, Pune and Maya CARE offer a door-step library for citizens of Pune. The Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad library has a collection of 40,000 Marathi books. Subscribers to the doorstep library initiative are provided a select list of books from this collection in advance. To view a sample list of books click here. Subscribers could call the Maya CARE helpline (9552510411 or 9552510400) between 10 am and 6 pm on weekdays to request a book from this list or e-mail their request to service@mayacare.com  The book is delivered to them at their home within two working days. Subscribers could keep the book with them between 8 days to 15 days and call the Maya CARE helpline to request for the next book.

Maya Care and three reputed libraries – Dadar Sarvajanik Vaachanalay, Pradhyapak Manikrao Kirtane Vaachanaalay, Navi Mumbai and Pradeep Pragati Vaachanalay, Thane have come together to launch a door-step library for citizens of Mumbai. Please call the Maya CARE helpline (9594073475 or 9552510400) between 10 am and 6 pm on weekdays to request for a subscription. The door-step library subscription is available at a monthly service charge of Rs 250/- along with a returnable deposit and fees of individual libraries. Given the vast geography of Mumbai, Maya CARE is exploring partnerships with more libraries to be able to offer the door-step library service across all areas of Mumbai.

Established in 1979, the Pradhyapak Manikrao Kirtane Vachanalaya located at Sector 6 in Navi Mumbai has a collection of over 12500 Marathi and some English books. “Door-step library subscribers in the Navi Mumbai area would be charged the following for borrowing one book at a time: returnable deposit of Rs 300/-, monthly fee of Rs 60/- and one-time registration fee of Rs 5. This would be in addition to the monthly Maya CARE service charge of Rs 250/- for home delivery of books,” explains Mr Subhash Kulkarni, Secretary, Pradhyapak Manikrao Kirtane Vaachanaalay.

Mr Vivek Kulkarni, Chairman, Dadar Sarvajanik Vaachanalay says, “Established in 1907, the Dadar Sarvajanik Vaachanalay located in Dadar West has a collection of over a lakh Marathi and English books. Subscribers in the vicinity of Dadar would be charged the following for borrowing one book at a time: returnable deposit of Rs 200/-, monthly fee of Rs 45/- and a one-time registration of Rs 10. This would be in addition to the monthly Maya CARE service charge of Rs 250/- for home delivery of books.”

The Pradeep Pragati Vachanalay in Thane was established by Mr Narayan Kale 35 years ago and is now run in association with Mr Madhav Tilak. Subscribers in the vicinity of Thane would be charged the following for borrowing one book at a time: returnable deposit of Rs 200/- and an annual fee of Rs 150. This would be in addition to the monthly Maya CARE service charge of Rs 250/- for home delivery of books.
