Maya CARE was conceived as a small dream - to provide services to senior citizens and a source of livelihood to women. The dream is now a movement propelled by growing a network of volunteers, men and women... across seven Indian cities. Primarily a care service for senior citizens, Maya CARE is also used by those with a mental or physical disability as well as families of professionals.
Services: Accompanying senior citizens to the doctor/social/cultural event/railway station/airport, sitting with them in hospital, outside the ICU, reading to them, writing letters/articles for them, computer-related work, sorting out documents, bank transactions, applying for a phone/gas connection, helping with house registration, making an affidavit...
A MAYA Care subscription works this way –
- Maya CARE helplines are active between 10 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
- On request from the senior citizen, a MAYA Care associate bearing an identity card visits the senior citizen.
- Services: bank transactions, shopping, visits to the doctor, pathology lab sample collection, delivery of medical reports, telephone activation, bill payment, sorting out computer-related issues...
- At the end of each month, the senior citizen as well as the sponsor receives an e-mail detailing the services rendered.
